There are so many choices these days in the handheld electronic world. Maybe too many? Why not add another device to the mix? The brand new Kindle HD will be arriving November 20th, just before the holiday season (of course)
Is it worth looking into the new Kindle HD? I ask this question because the screen is small. (Maximum 8.9″ for the premium model) I don’t know if I would be able to tell true HD from a slightly lower resolution unless someone were to tell me it’s Hi Def. Either way, the new Kindle line will come in three separate price points which is nice for people like me who are on a budget.
The basic starter in the new trio of HD Kindles is the 7-inch version for only $199, a larger 8.9-inch version for $299, and finally, the souped-up 4G LTE-ready version for $499. All 3 of them are color and of course, HD as well. With even the most expensive Kindle HD (32GB) coming in at a lower cost than the Ipad 3 32GB ($600-750). Even the big daddy 64gb Kindle HD ($599) is less than the 32GB Ipad 3. This will definitely give consumers something to think about. After all, it’s only fair to have some competition. It’s also nice for us consumers to have choices when making a big purchase like this. Which puts the Ipad 3 in the drivers seat here. The newest Ipad has been out for several months now, and people might feel more peace of mind buying the Ipad 3 having read so many customer reviews on it already.
An interesting topic of conversation is apps, and what developers support what device? Most all popular apps for both Droid and Apple can be found on the Kindle HD . Theres no real worry there, as Kindle has had thousands of apps for several years now. Whats even cooler is the fact that everyone who has an Amazon Prime account can stream thousands of tv shows and movies right from their Kindle. Lots of people dont realize that their Prime membership not only saves them lots of money on shipping for items they would buy anyway, but Prime streaming also rivals Netflix, saving you another $8 + bucks/month. Not too bad at all!
All in all, I think it will inevitably make things very interesting as far as total sales go in Q4 of this year.
